I am frequently asked if we have a clay shooting ground near to our Shoot and are fortunate to have Hazel Bank Shooting Ground near Knaresborough just 15 minutes drive from Ripley.
Hazel Bank Shooting Ground is the winner of the Clay Shooting Magazine ‘Most Favourite Shooting Ground in the North East’. Established in 1970 and run by Mark Lawson, Hazel Bank offers everything from private tuition – novice to expert, for individuals, small groups and corporate events. Gun Fitting, On the Peg coaching, CPSA - Shotgun Skills Courses and has a full fleet of traps available to hire for simulated game days, charity events etc.
Hazel Bank has a fantastic 50 Sporting layout, where targets are changed weekly. They also have the availability to offer driven targets or set up specific targets to practise if required.
You are guaranteed a warm friendly welcome at Hazel Bank – Opening Times are Saturday 1- 4 p.m., Sunday 10.30 a.m.-1 p.m. At varying times of the year there is shooting on a Tuesday or Wednesday from 5.30-7.30 p.m. The club is open on other days and times by appointment.
Although these are the normal opening times Mark Lawson offers clay shooting at any time by appointment. Any time also means after dark when he offers a sporting layout by floodlight. So you are now able to experience some practice before or after your shoot day at any time of the season.

Hazel Bank is located just outside Knaresborough on the A6055. Travelling from Knaresborough the ground is located on the left hand side opposite Knaresborough Golf Club.
