Shooting with Frank at Ripley Castle is a pleasure that even poor weather cannot spoil. The effort Frank puts into ensuring all his guests have a great day cannot be over stated; from the moment you arrive until you leave, your enjoyment is his priority. You know you are always going to have good quality shooting, great catering and an extremely friendly atmosphere. Out of the shooting season, Franks Ripley Newsletters and his very comprehensive website keep guns updates and appetites whetted. I love the wide variety of shooting on offer and last season had a real treat trying out the new drives Frank has added. (PS look out for the awesome pork pies freshly baked on the morning of the shoot!).

'What can you say..good...no...Excellent..yes.
I have been going here for a number of years and cannot praise Frank and his marvellous team enough. From the moment you arrive and Ruth hands you a bacon sandwich, David shakes your hand, you know you have arrived at something special. Then the day just gets better and better. Great birds, beautiful setting, brilliant team of beaters, and just the odd drink or three. Lunch, afternoon tea..the odd drink or three...oh yes and the shooting is worth mentioning.....the season would not be the same without at least two days at Ripley. Thanks Frank.'

“Easily summed up as excellent in every respect of a days shooting”.
Mr Gregory Crowe. 18/10/2010

“I am 15 years of age and have been invited to shoot at Ripley over the past 5 years with a great friend of mine. Each time I have shot I seem to manage to hit a few more birds, but the outstanding hospitality of the shoot never wavers. In all a wonderful shooting experience”.
Master Rupert Smith. 03/11/2010

“I have shot on this estate for the past three years on both large and small days. I found the shoot to be very well run indeed with the hospitality and presentation of the birds being excellent and are a credit to Mr Boddy who runs the shoot. I will definitely be shooting there again”.
Mr Ian Ainsley. 08/11/2010

“Was lucky enough to go on one of the keepers days last year, had a fantastic day. Very highly recommended”.
M.S.P. 15/11/2010

“Franks shoot, Ripley Castle was recommended to me by Roger Hill, my loader, after he had loaded there for another gun last season. I shot my first day's over the first weekend in December a keepers day on the Friday and a members day on the Saturday. Both days were run perfectly. The entire experience is one of complete satisfaction. The level of service and facilities are amongst the finest I have come across in the 20 years I have been shooting. Frank and David’s team are quite simply fantastic. They create a relaxed almost family like atmosphere whilst remaining the epitome of professionalism. Ripley is a truly special place run by
special people and I shall continue to visit as often as I can for as long as I can”.
Mr Anthony Cave. 20/12/2011

“I shot on one of the Ripley Castle Ladies Days in early December. It was a truly wonderful experience; the day was hosted by Lady Emma, who made me feel so welcome, as did the other lady guns. The drives were perfectly challenging and the topography was stunning. The weather gave us snow, rain and shine, but we were made to feel warm all day, through great company and a real feeling of being a normal gun on a game day. I have booked the same day again for next season and can’t wait to shoot at Ripley Castle. I would recommend the Ladies Day for any lady gun, be you new into the sport or a regular gun”.

“Following a great day out at Ripley Castle in 2011, I was recommended to try Eagle Hall and Ashfold Side shoot for 2012. What a fantastic day's sport! In early November, we enjoyed very challenging high pheasant and the most astonishing upland high partridges, with both quarry types being spectacularly presented across the entire team of guns. Nigel deserves a mention for hosting us so well on the day but special thanks should go to George, the head keeper and his trusted team for showing us so many steadily presented, fabulous testing birds. The shoot's hospitality was excellent from start to finish, culminating in a superb late lunch at The Shoot Box. Eagle Hall and Ashfold Side is undoubtedly one of the best shoots I've had the privilege to enjoy and comes very highly recommended indeed. Well done Frank and Co!”

“If great shooting and fantastic hospitality is your thing then Ripley Castle is for you. Frank is a master at running a shoot and will look after everyone on a day whilst also providing a great deal of laughs at the same time. I have shot around the castle, at Eagle Hall and the grouse on both moors and all were fantastic. I look forward to coming back, well done to all involved”.
Mr. Chris Horne - Aug 2013

“I recently attended the novice day with a none shooting quest. What a fantastic day. If you are getting into game shooting after working out your technique on clays this day is perfect for you. Great host, great food, great company and great shooting”.
K.R. - Oct 2013

“I took a 100 bird day on the 1/10/13 as I fancied a ''Treat'' for the start of the season. My shooting partner and I got to the shoot early and were greeted by a hot bacon roll, a coffee and Mr Frank Boddy's warm welcome. We had a total of 4 drives with some excellent birds making the best of the local topography and managed to put a few extra in the bag. From start to finish this was one of the best shoots I have attended and we both came away with huge grins on our faces. We have booked a further day in December and are already looking at the calendar for next year”.
Mr. Iain Moate - Oct 2013

“Thats our second day at Ripley (and sadly our last) for 2013/14. As before it was extremely well organised and with 4 drives we shot just over the expected bag with some stunning birds. The team, under David, work very hard and make it such a pleasure to be out shooting. If you are looking for a treat (as we were) or to fill in-between your syndicate days then I would recommend Ripley. We will be back next season, I'm sure”.
